The British & Colombian Chamber meet Boris Johnson

The B&CCC attended a reception organised by The Council of Foreign Chambers last 9 March 2010 with the Mayor of London, Mr. Boris Johnson. The reception took place at City Hall, where the Mayor addressed directors and members of foreign chambers in the Country.
Our Chairman, Mr. Nigel Luson and the Executive Director, Ms. Tania Hoyos from the British and Colombian Chamber of Commerce attended the meeting, along with members of the Chamber’s Board and representatives of a few companies.
Mr. Johnson addressed the delegates in a short and lively speech in which he stressed the importance of London as a centre for commerce and industry, a friendly environment for business and remarked the City’s key role in the financial scenario. A city, in his view, that needs no branding and needs no further message to remark its importance in Europe and the rest of the world.
He also presented excitedly the next few large projects that the city will undertake, mostly in preparation of the coming Olympics, due to take place in 2012. He took this opportunity to compare London with other important cities such as New York and Paris, bearing in mind aspects such as growth, general security and infrastructure, aspects in which London excels.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to the Chambers and their role of bringing new companies and new interests into the UK and particularly into London, putting forward examples of spirited British companies that are exporting to the rest of Europe.
Delegates of the different Chambers had the chance to network and share experiences with each other until the event finished at 8:00 PM.
